Detox Smoothie Recipe

After a long weekend of over indulgence, it’s always a good idea to blend up a smoothie to help cleanse and revitalize your body from the inside out! This Liver Detox Smoothie from The Roasted Root combines ingredients containing pectin, potassium, and plant-flavonoids (all of which promote healthy digestion and liver function) with deliciously healthy add-ins like enzyme-heavy turmeric and chlorophyll-packed spinach and parsley for a healthy and filling snack.   • 1 ripe banana, peeled
  • ½ green apple, cored and chopped
  • 1 medium-sized carrot, peeled and chopped
  • 1 handful baby spinach
  • ¼ inch nub turmeric root
  • 1 tbsp. fresh parsley, chopped
  • 3 walnut halves
  • 2 tbsp. hemp protein powder
  • ½ lemon, juiced
  • 1 pinch cinnamon (optional)
  • ¾ cup unsweetened almond milk
DIRECTIONS Starting with liquid ingredients, blend all ingredients together one at a time until smooth. If you’re intolerant to banana, replace banana with ½ cup chopped papaya (a powerful antiparasitic and liver aid). To make the smoothie sweeter, replace the almond milk with ¾ cup orange juice.
